Hamburg Monarchs Soccer Club Indoor House League

Indoor House League: Postponed

Due to the restrictions that COVID-19 has placed on schools, we will not be able to hold our indoor house league during this usual time and will be postponing it until further notice. We are going to remain in contact with several locations that typically allow us to rent gym space and will send out an update in late December-early January with more information. We apologize for the delay and understand that many players are eager to get back on the field. Rules, regulations, and policies regarding COVID-19 are changing constantly and it is our hope is that, by January, we will be able to organize an indoor house league for the winter/spring that will lead us into our summer session. Please continue to check the website for any new postings or updates regarding this situation.

Indoor House League Overview

What is the Indoor House League?
Our Indoor House League is a 10 week recreational co-ed program for children ages 4-10. This one-day-a-week program runs from November/December through February/March and typically takes place at Armor Elementary School in the Hamburg Central School District.

The program is designed to teach children the basics of soccer while also having fun. Our main goal is to help develop basic skills through instruction and activities. Each league meets once a week for one hour.

The first 30 minutes is for the technical aspect of the game (foot skills) and soccer related activities.  The second 30 minutes is for small sided games. The players are divided into teams randomly each week. This allows coordinators to even out teams and players as needed. We try to make sure every player experiences some challenges and some success as too much of either is not good for player enjoyment or development.

Registration

When does registration begin/end?
Registration begins on September 18, 2019 and closes November 1, 2019. As space is extremely limited and the group sizes are small, we recommend registering early!

How do I register for the program?
To register online, please log in or create an account (in the upper right corner of the homepage). Select the "Register Now" button to sign up for the  Indoor House League Season. The computer system will walk you through the registration process and payment section. Registration begins October.

How do I know which age group to register for?
Based on new regulations by New York State West, age groups are determined ONLY by your child's birth year. Our Indoor House League includes the following age brackets: U4 (born in 2016) , U6 (born in 2014 OR 2015), U8 (born in 2012 OR 2013), & U10 (born in 2010 OR 2011). The computer will direct you to the age group your child is eligible to participate in. Some age groups/days tend to fill up quickly. If you do not see the day you want upon registration, please email Caitlin at [email protected].

What if the group I want to register for is full?
We will place players on a waiting list if they group they want to register for is full. Players on the waiting list will be contacted if/when a spot opens up to accept the position. Please email Caitlin Pauszek at [email protected] if you are interested in being on the waiting list.

What's next?

All players must be registered on the website and paid in full by November 1, 2019 to be eligible to play in the league.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drop my child off each night or should I stay with them?
All players need to have a parent, guardian, family member, or family friend there with them each night. We are there to coach soccer and we can't keep an accounting of children if they need to use the restroom or get a drink from the drinking fountain. Parents can sit on the sidelines of the gym and watch as their children play. Parents are welcome to bring folding chairs as well.

What team will I be on?
For our Indoor House League, all children in each age group will be on the same team and divided up each night when it comes time to play the small sided games.

Who will coach?

For our Indoor House League, we use field coordinators (high school and college aged coaches) to train players. These coordinators all have a strong soccer background. However, we are always looking for parents to volunteer and serve as helpers to the coordinators. No soccer knowledge or experience is required to volunteer. Please contact Caitlin Pauszek at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.

How do I know if soccer is cancelled on a given night?
No soccer dates are listed in the table in the 'Schedule' section. These are predetermined dates that we are not allowed to hold practice due to an event taking place at Armor Elementary.

If the school district (Hamburg Central School District) is closed due to inclement weather, soccer will be canceled that evening. If soccer is canceled, we will post on the website and Facebook. We will also send out an email to families as soon as possible.  If, at any point, you believe it is unsafe to travel (due to weather conditions), please refrain from bringing your child to soccer for the night.

Two make-up dates are already built into the schedule to account for weather cancellations. For the most part, there will be no make-up dates due to cancelations. If soccer is canceled many times on a particular night, we will make an effort to schedule a make-up date if there is an opportunity to rent out more gym space.

On occasion, Armor Elementary has to hold rescheduled events the same night soccer is scheduled. In those instances, we are not allowed to hold soccer practices/games. We will email families and post on our website as soon as we are made aware of any such event.

Any other important information I need to know?
The Hamburg Central School District has several rules we must abide by. Failure to abide by these rules will result in our gym privileges being taken away.

1. All doors must remain closed at all times and no doors may be propped open. Hamburg Soccer Club employees will remain at the main door 10 minutes prior to the session and 10 minutes after the session has started let all parents and players in the building.

2. Parents and players are not to kick soccer balls out in the hallway or participate in any activity that could reasonably lead to destruction of property.

3. Parents and players are not to travel throughout the school as we only rent out the gym area. Bathrooms and water fountains will also be available to use.

4. If it is wet outside, players should wear boots and bring sneakers to play in. It is dangerous for players to be playing on a wet gym floor.

5. Parents or guardians should remain in the building with their minor children throughout the duration of the practice.
