Attention Hamburg soccer families:

Dear Parents: Thank you for your patience and cooperation this season with
our new parking system. This past weekend the parking lot was striped and
parking spaces put down on the gravel. We tried this for our tournament
this weekend and seemed to help create more spaces and help with the
overall parking in general. We ask that you use these spaces accordingly
and continue to respect the spots designated for handicap and emergency
vehicles.

Please do NOT double park, park along the fence line, or park in the area
by the barn designated for board members, workers and referees. When you
leave, please be patient and drive out the exit side only. The parking lot
traffic flow is designed to be one way in and one way out for the safety
of all. Board members do not want to act as "Parking Police",
but we do reserve the right to contact the Hamburg Town Police if someone
chooses to be uncooperative.

Finally, we have been asked to remind everyone that dogs are NOT allowed
in Town Parks. Our facility is a Town Park and is posted as such.

Thank you for your cooperation on these matters.

Attention Club members parking at the Nike Base

Dear Parents:  Please be advised that there will be a new parking system in place for the upcoming season.  The parking lot will be divided with a barrier to ensure one way traffic in and out of the parking lot.  THERE WILL NOT BE PARKING ALLOWED DOWN THE CENTER OF THE LOT THIS YEAR. There will be an opening approximately halfway down the lot for vehicles that have parked closer to the front of the lot to make a turn to exit.  There are also newly striped areas designated as “NO PARKING" for emergency vehicles to have access to our fields. We have taken these steps to help ensure the safety of all who attend the soccer games.

We ask you for your cooperation and patience. Please note, the volume of traffic may be greater on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, so please give yourself time to get to the field for your game.  We are also encouraging the travel teams that play on fields # 10-14 to park in our secondary lot C closer to the ice rink end of the complex.

Thanks you for your help in this matter.

The U15 Boy Gold team came home from Lockport with the 2009 league trophy for first place!  The Monarchs finished the season 6-1-3 overtaking Lockport's record of 6-2-2, with one of those losses to the Monarchs.

Uniform Bank

If you have any gently used uniform items that will no longer fit and nobody in your family can use, please consider donating them to our used uniform bank. Our intention is to store clean used uniforms for distribution to scholarship players. Our late friend and president Jimmy Yoviene created a great tradition of giving that allowed the Hamburg Soccer Club to establish funds to provide soccer to all children who showed the desire no matter what their needs are. The Board of Directors believes that the uniform bank reflects that same spirit. Please drop-off any clean used uniform items for donation to the Nike Base field house,  or to your team's coach, or send an email to our Uniform Bank coordinator Bill Page to setup a pickup/drop-off time.

Congratulations to Rich Koteras who was honored as our club's "Character Coach of the Year" on September 25th at Michael's Banquet Hall.

2010 James Yoviene Memorial Tournament (JYM) results are now posted on the Tournament page

Everyone:

On behalf of the Hamburg Soccer Club, I would like to extend thanks to everyone who helped out at the HSC tournament this year. Once again this tournament was a success in large part due to your efforts in the snack Shed and the fact the weather cooperated. Once again the proceeds from this tournament help keep costs down and allow us to have more practice time at Sahlens in the winter. Once again thanks for your help and support during our tournament.

To All Hamburg Monarchs Travel Teams:

The 2010 Hamburg Monarchs Soccer Tournament was held on Saturday June 19th and Sunday June 20th.  The club called for volunteers in several different areas in order to help make the tournament a success for all teams involved.

Our call was clearly heard. The board members would like to thank all that helped make this year's tournament a successful one. The combination of good weather and great volunteers, made this tournament our best yet. We have received very positive feedback from both visiting and local teams.

Thank you for your continued support of the Hamburg Monarchs Tournament.

Members of the Monarchs U-12 Boys and U12 Girls teams Take the championship at the Kenton 4 v 4 Tournament

Seven members of the u-12 boys team, won the championship of the inaugural Kenton Soccer Club 4v4 tournament the weekend of June 5th.  The players advanced undefeated through the round robin portion of the tournament by beating Empire United, Grand Island and the host Kenton team.

The Monarchs were matched up against West Seneca in the final match which they won 4-3 in OT. The Monarchs never led in the final until the final tally by Shane Green. The Monarchs trailed by two before half time when Matt Bull tallied twice to even the score. West Seneca scored again and looked destined for victory, when with less than 1 minute to go, Erik Szabala went around the West Seneca goal keeper and with an empty net staring at him, was tackled from behind and awarded a penalty kick.  He tied the game with a beautiful shot just inside the post. West Seneca was forced to play OT a man down as the player who tackled Erik was assessed a red Card.

Nate Tomasik and Nyles Linsley provided strong pressure on the opponents during the tournament, while Felix Yeager and Will Smith added superior goaltending.  The u-12 boys would like to send out a special thank you to the Monarchs’ girls team, as their cheers helped provide a spark in the final match.

U12 Girls also finish undefeated!

The team was made up of players (8) from my U12 Gold team. The girls competed in four 4v4 (+GKs) games. They went 4-0 scoring 34 goals and only allowing 7 to win the championship for their age bracket.

Girls U14 Gold wins the 2009 AIM tournament!

The girls worked very hard.  The competition was excellent.  We played the St. Catherine’s Jet’s in the first game and lost 2 to 0.  Even though we lost the first game, we felt we really out played St. Catherine’s in the second half of the game.  In game two we played Amherst and won 1 to 0 but we controlled the play and the score should have been greater in our favor.  Game 3 we played last year’s champions Laconia and we scored a goal (Ellen Plunkett) with 5 minutes left to break the tie.  The girls fought hard and deserved to win this close match, score 1 to 0.

The championship game was again very hard fought.  We played a very good team that had 3 guest players (as did the other two teams we played.)  We played with only our own team.  The team we played was Enchanted Mountain Soccer Club from Olean.  They were big and fast, but we showed how skilled our kids are with the ball.  It was zero –zero after 2 overtimes and our girls won in the shootout.  It was a very exciting tournament and our kids really grew as a team this weekend.   The opposing teams voted for the player of the match for the other team every game.  Mollie Zugger was player of the match in games 1 and 3, Darlene Eckhardt was named in game two and Nicole Thiel our goaltender was most deservingly the player of the match in our championship game.  Ellen Plunkett, Lauren Bugaj, Autumn Padovani and Alex Juliano also stood out in games during the tournament overall.  I was happy with the play and effort of all of our players this weekend.

The team has 7 wins and 1 loss this year and all our wins have been by shutouts.  Our league is 4-0.

Thank you to everyone that made this year spaghetti dinner an even better success than it was last year. One of the things that makes this club great is the many generous people that get involved. Thank you!
